The weekend

We have had rain, rain, and more rain! We’ve spent a lot of time at home, but we’ve still had fun. It’s been neat to watch the girls here, because they have spent tons of time playing with some Lego blocks that were here. We brought some toys and games, but those have been their main toy of choice.

This weekend, we looked in a cabinet and found more games and books that were already here. We decided to work a 500 piece puzzle, and the girls and I played tiddly winks yesterday. Somehow I started out great, but ended up being absolutely horrible by the time we had played round after round!

The puzzle was a bit overwhelming at times, but I saw a lot of life lessons in it…break a big task into smaller tasks, focus on one area at a time, stepping away for awhile and coming back can give you a fresh perspective, team work can make a job much easier and more enjoyable, looking at the creator’s picture of the finished product provides great guidance…the list can go on and on. All the pieces weren’t there, but we were proud of our accomplishment!

The rain stopped for a few minutes on Saturday, so we went to the loch (lake) that is about a block away. It was beautiful. It also had a zipline for the girls and some different swings. America definitely needs to take some ideas from the Scottish play parks!

Jeff did a great job preaching this morning, and it was fun visiting before and after the service. We are seeing more and more familiar faces…It’s hard to believe we’ve only been here a week on one hand, but then it’s also hard to believe over a week has already slipped away!

We’ve also had some blue skies and sun today! Of course it poured down rain in between, but we’ll take the sun when we can get it! Well…in typical Scottish fashion, the rain has already returned!

On Sunday evening, we went to church at Claremont Parish, which is partnering with Calderwood this summer for Sunday evening services.
