Jeff's African Adventures

We've been able to receive a few e-mails from Jeff, so I wanted to update you on his trip.

He is in Malawi, Africa and helping with a conference/worship time to encourage missionaries serving in the area. Jeff is specifically working with 2 year olds. From what I understand, his group has them from 8 .m.-6 p.m. with no breaks! He is enjoying them, but doesn't understand how daycare workers do it all the time!

So far it sounds like he hasn't gotten sick (He got 2 different parasites on trips last year) even though he ate a monkey gland burger. He thought it was probably a burger with monkey gland sauce and described it as good, in a monkey sort of way! Sounds like Jeff doesn't it?! He has a strong dislike for monkeys, and yes there are monkeys that throw things where he is, so maybe it's a sense of revenge for him after all his bad experiences with monkeys on trips!

He said the weather is melting hot in the day, but 40 degrees when he wakes up, so I guess he experiences all four seasons each day. He also has to sleep under a bug net, and I'm sure he's very thankful for it.

He was excited to get to eat dinner with a missionary couple we met at the International Learning Center in Virginia last year when we were there for a conference. All missionaries train there before they head to their assignment, and we happened to be there the same week.

He gets the opportunity to preach at a local African church this Sunday with a translator. Pray for him as he prepares and delivers the message.

I'll send some pictures when he gets back. Until then, here are a couple of pictures of the girls enjoying the last Faithful Friday, a ministry our church did in July for a trailer park in Bowling Green. They really enjoyed the two weeks we were there.

Micah is home!

We finally got to meet Micah! It was so fun witnessing his cute personality and hearing his belly laugh. Having pictures over the past 8 months was great, but actually getting to hold and play with him was immensely better! We look forward to lots more visits with him! Welcome to the family Micah! We love you!

Three months until take-off!

I have great news to report! There are four new Christians in India as a result of a team from Tennessee that went in June and did what we will be doing in October! For all of you that have been praying for the Indians...thank you! You played an important role in the harvest! Also, hundreds of homes have access to the Gospel as a result of the cassettes that were distributed. Due to increased gov't restrictions, distribution of Bibles is not currently allowed, so please pray that this restriction will be lifted before October. But God proved He is bigger than restrictions during that team's stay, and we praise Him for that!

At this Sunday's training, we will be hitting the steps at the local university's football stadium. Hopefully my time in the gym with the weights, stair master, and treadmill will pay off. I've had the opportunity to share about my trip more as a result of questions regarding why I'm on the treadmill with boots and my weighted backpack on the highest setting of incline that is available! That will not prepare me for Kentucky heat & humidity in the middle of the day in July though!

For those that live in the area...here are a few ways you can support the team if you're interested:

* On Saturday, Aug. 5, we will be having a yard sale in Auburn (off 68/80). You could either donate unwanted "treasures" from your home or come shop! We have a place to store items, so let me or another team member know if you have anything you'd like picked up!

* On Sundays: Aug. 12, 19, and 26 we will be working the 10/40 Cafe at Living Hope and proceeds will support our trip.

* On Wednesdays: Aug. 15 and Sept. 5, we will be responsible for the Mission Meals at Living Hope and proceeds will support our team.

For people living everywhere...we treasure your prayer support!

Here is a picture from last year's team:

Other prayer requests:

* Jeff is part of a team heading to Africa soon to serve.

* My sister's family is currently in route to America from Guatemala with their adopted son, Micah.
